THE STORY BEHIND ORÌ ADÉ

AN IDEA BORN BETWEEN CREATIVITY AND IDENTITY

01 — THE NAME

A NAME. A MEANING. A CROWN.

Orì Adé is a name of Yoruba origin, inspired by cultural and spiritual references connected to Ifẹ̀.

Orí refers to the self, to identity. Adé means crown. Together, these two words evoke for me the idea of a crowned self, recognised and celebrated.

This meaning resonates with my work: grillz, which recall dental crowns in their shape and placement, become an adornment chosen as a way to assert one's identity.

02 — THE BEGINNING

IT STARTED WITH MY OWN SMILE.

I've always been fascinated by beautiful smiles. Yet for a long time, I felt self-conscious about my own.

It was this personal relationship with my smile that led me to explore different ways of highlighting it. What began as a personal search gradually took on another dimension: first a creative project, then a brand identity.

Orì Adé was born from that evolution.

03 — THE PRACTICE

LEARNED BY HAND. REFINED THROUGH PRACTICE.

I trained professionally in teeth whitening and tooth gem application. To date, I have carried out these services for several hundred people.

I began making grillz through self-teaching before going to London to deepen my practice with artists recognised in the field.

Today, I design each piece as a whole, from developing the design to the finishing stages, which I carry out myself. I work with specialist partners for casting and certain jewellery finishes.

I carefully select the materials, tools and partners I work with. Handcraft remains at the heart of my approach.

04 — THE VISION

CROWN YOUR SMILE.

To me, a smile expresses far more than joy. It can reflect a renewed sense of wellbeing, new-found confidence or an attitude coming into its own.

I love seeing what changes when someone begins to fully embrace their smile: the way they hold themselves, show up and no longer hesitate to show their teeth.

That is also what I hope to offer through Orì Adé: different ways to highlight a smile, whether through an adornment, a custom creation or aesthetic treatment.

05 — WHAT'S NEXT

BUILT BY HAND. MADE TO TRAVEL.

I want to keep growing Orì Adé without losing what defines it today: handcraft, attention to detail and creative freedom.

I want to develop my own studio, take my work beyond Paris and create new encounters with artists and makers. In time, I would also like to extend this universe into jewellery and collaborations beyond the dental field.

The ambition remains the same: to keep creating, learning and exploring new forms of adornment.
